Utilizing natural rock in landscape design provides a pleasing
appearance. Rock featured in the photographs below is Young Granite harvested
out of the California foothills and mountains. The surrounding trees are Aptos
Blue California Coastal Redwoods, which are commonly used with boulders to
create a mountainous type
setting. There are several trees that work well with and around the boulders,
including the European White Birch. In larger planting areas a variety of
boulder sizes can be utilized to build the desired effect. Smaller
planting areas must use smaller boulder sizes.
Boulders are used to create focal points in the landscape. Boulders can be used
with a combination of other stones to create dry river beds, ponds, waterfalls,
and a variety of other effects.
